Our adventures in Joshua Tree
We just got home from an amazing camping trip that I would highly recommend to anyone that likes the outdoors. This past weekend we went camping in Joshua Tree with Liz, Scott, Charlo and liz's brother and sister. We brought two of my young women with us to, Megan and Taryn. They were our babysitters so we could go on hikes without the little ones. That was a big help. Our first night was a little rough. It was very windy. Our tent fell on me all night long. Wind blew anything loose all around. So in morning Matt fixed our problem for a better night sleep the next night. We got up bright and early and had breakfast burritos. Then set off to our first adventure Skull rock. It was a nice little hike. The kids climbed on all the rocks. When we got back from that hike we had lunch and took a small nap. Then we got up and set off to our big kid rock climb. We had our sights set for Eagle rock. We really wanted to get to the top of that one. So we started a race to see who could get to the top first. Matt, Me and Jonathan against Scott, liz and Kenny. On our way up which was pretty hard we got stuck at a spot that Matt said we could go any more. By that time the other group caught up to us. I decided to try on my own to jump the gap and landed on my shin and knee. Needless to say I am not 14 anymore and got my 28 year old butt hurt ( I have a pretty good bump on my shin) but not hurt enough to stop the hike. After that jump we decided we probably weren't going to make it to the top so we set out to explore the other rocks. It was a lot of fun. Jonathan was having fun following the guys. Jumpig around. I surprised to say he didn't get hurt hte entire trip. We headed back to camp as it started getting dark we had to get dinner started before it got too dark. Where we were camped at the kids had so much to explore while we were cooking and cleaning that they didn't mind just staying at camp. For dinner we had chicken chowder with camp fire bisquets and hot dogs. Yummy. After dinner we sat around the camp fire and played games told stories and made smores. My family hit the sack at about 9:00. We were tired from the long day. Next morning we had breakfast and started cleaning up camp. we had another place we wanted to explore before we went home. The best part of the trip was being able to do sacrament out there in nature. It was very quiet and beautiful. One of my favorite experience during the trip. After sacrament we set off to explore some caves we found. The caves were really neat. We climbed out of the caves through some small holes. The kids were the first out. Katelyn and Diana were at the top waiting for us when a bee sat on Katelyn's back. Diana got it off and we were on our way to find another cave when out of no where Katelyn started to scream and rip her pants off underwear and all. Matt was yelling at her to put her pants back on while I got to her having the feeling the bee stung her. So I helped her take her pants off when I saw the bee fly out of her pants and the stinger just under her butt cheek. Mommy saved the day getting the stinger out without any juice getting into the hole. I carried her to the car to ice her butt. That was the end of our adventure. Katelyn was in no condition to hike anymore and we had to head home. Not until we got out of Joshua Tree did we here anything about the fires near our house. So we came from camping to be home where it smelt like camp. I have to say this was one of my favorite camping trips. The weather was perfect the surroundings were beautiful. I could not have asked for a better vacation. Now that I am home I am a little sore from my fall but glad for the memories. Now its time for clean up. Enjoy the pictures. It is going to make you want to join us next time.

Poor Katelyn! When Kaden was two, a bee stung him on his cheeck (on his face)...I can't imagine either cheeks would feel well!
