Last weekend we took a train to Old Town San Diego with the kids, my mom and Denise. It was a two hour train ride that Jonathan could not wait for. He was so excited. We got our tickets and got on the train at about 7:50. A guy came around to each car and took our tickets Jonathan said it was the conducter. He punched holes in it just like Polar Express. Jonathans dream. Here are a few pictures from that day. Only one is in the train the rest are from old town.

This is our family picture for the day Early in the morning on the bench waiting for the train. This was the best we could get. Jonathan is happy at least. We got one out of the 3.
My mom brought a bunch of maps (grandpa would be proud) Jonathan loves looking at maps. I think it runs in the family. It entertained them for a little bit.
They had a bunch of things for the kids to do. This one was showing the kids how the pioneers had to clean their clothes. First in a bucket over a fire with a stick, then in a wash basin to scrub on a board (just like uncle Kevin had to on his mission) Finally they had to ring it out and hang it to dry. Katelyn did every step and loved it. If only she cleand that well at our house. Guess we are going to start doing laundry pioneer style. Maybe that will get her to help more.
In another area we got to bake our own bisquets over coals. Then we made our own butter to put in them. That was a lot of fun. Something I had never done. It is a good idea for camp outs. This was Brady boys favorite because it had food.
Joanthan liked his one because he got a treasure. They both got to pan for gold. Jonathan was so excited when he found a nugget. He still has it sitting on his shelf in his room.
They had a tone more stuff to do. Katelyn made a doll, Jonathan made some rope, they both signed up for the army, played pioneer games and took one home, marched in a parade, sewed a quilt block. After all that fun we went to the Mormon Battalion building that the church has just down the street and watched a video about what the Battalion did for America and some of the men and women and their sacrifices. It was awsome. I highly recommend this day to everyone. Train ride and all. We are definatly going next year. It is a great day out with the family.

What a fun day! It threw me for a second when I saw "Brady boy" on there... i'll have to get used to the fact their names are so similar...Brayden and Brady! ha ha Glad you guys had a good time!
I truly love the train, one of my favorite ways to travel! Can't wait for Charlotte to get big so she can enjoy new experience with mommy
